TEA CUPS AND PRAYERS ABOUT SANDY!

Ladies, welcome to Tea Cup Tuesday No. 138! I pray that you are all well and that the storm that is hitting the East Coast does not cause you too much hurt. It looks so bad on TV, I have to turn it off to give my mind a rest. I will pray daily for you that God has mercy. It almost seems wrong to do a post on Tea Cups when so many families are suffering, but I think too that it is almost better to do the things that are normal. I am praying this evening for all that have been hurt by this storm.

I have a confession to make. For the last 6 weeks or so I have been just a little off. (No jokes!) I told my daughter today, that I think I am finally feeling normal. I think that I have been under a lot of stress and did not even realize it. I usually love to decorate my home each month and this October, my home just did not seem normal, nothing looked right to me. So this week, I took all the Halloween things down, much to Noah's dismay, and put up November. Today I finished, except for the front porch (I don't want to world to know I have lost it, just you.) I feel so much better. I am not even sure why. I was a costume machine this month. Among my creations were Darth Vador, Princess Leia Organa, Jedi Luke Skywalker, The Hulk, and a Gypsi. I love to make people happy, but on top of that I made a Crown for Sophia and was in charge of a huge 90 Anniversary for our church! It was a formal luncheon. Oh, did I tell you I started to Homeschool this lovely young lady 3 days a week. She is the sweetest thing. You can see why I was having a melt down and did not even realize it, until it was over! I am so sorry. I feel like I just had been going through the motions to survive.

.

I have a some fun cups to share with you today. This first one is a vintage, Shelly. To me it does not even have to look of a Shelly, maybe that is why I like it so much. It is so different.

My next cup is a Johnson Brothers, The Friendly Village, The Ice House. Love this cup. It just screams Thanksgiving!

The last cup I am sharing is a demitassi, Hand Painted, Made in Japan cup! I think it is so cute!

Here is Mr. Linky for this week. As usual Terri has something fabulous to share with us, so pop over and say Hi. If you look on my side bar you will notice the new Shabby Lanes Magazine. I was asked again to contribute. I feel so honored. I am told you can find the magazine at Michael's now. If you are interested, just press the link or I can let you know how to get it. It has so much useful information. I will continue to pray for your safety this week.

Hugs, Martha

Hello Martha,
I am glad you are aware of how you have been doing, and that you feel you are moving on now. That is wonderful! You really have had a full plate this past year.
Your home must look lovely all decorated for November. It is such a beautiful time of year all about abundance and gratitude!
I love all your cups, but the vintage Shelley catches my eye!
Hugs,
Terri

Hi Martha! Well, good thing I didn't feature my Shelley cup - in the exact pattern you have featured here - though I wouldn't have thought to display the vintage jewelry. A lovely piece and a favorite of mine. I also am partial to the Friendly Village pattern and passed up a chance to get a whole dinner set - just didn't have the dollars - or any place to stash it! We are fairing well through the storm. Check things out on my post.
Joy!

Hi Martha,
God will know for what this all has to be. I also hope that hurrican Sandy does not damage too much. Its good to see something nice like your tea cup collection in those days. You have chosen the sweetest cups for november. I can imagine how wonderful your home looks with all the decoration. And to homeschool your little Sophia is just the right job for you. I think you both will have lots of fun. Thank you for sharing all your treasures of your life and for hosting this sweet event.
Take care, Johanna

The storm seems so daunting and many will suffer. I pray for the people and hope for the best. I have not decorating especially to October I will prepare for Advent. But we have other traditions on this side of the Atlantic. My father has begun putting up Christmas lights so that everything will be ready for the first Sunday of Advent. When we light up everything. As much as you are engaged in, I hope you will remember to take a break and take time for yourself. Shelly teacup is wonderful .. Your second cup of tea, I have a similar and I sit to drink tea out of. Johnson Brothers tea cups are very good to drink out and perfect size to take a cup of hot tea. Bless you! Zinnia

Martha, I am so glad to be back with my tea-time friends. I completely understand your melt-down. Seems to be a lot of that going around in my circle of friends & family. With so many of us grandmas helping out with grandchildren, and so many others, plus the everyday aspects of maintaining our homes, our marriages, our love for our Lord, well, some things just give way. Hopefully it is not our health & sleep !

Your teacups are so lovely and I appreciate you hosting this celebration of all things tea.

Martha, glad you are *yourself*. It is difficult when we just don't feel right. Love your teacups. I adore Johnson Bros anything, but I think the Friendly Village is one of my favorites. I have a teapot and keep searching local shops trying to find more pieces at a price I can afford! Good think I like the search!!! Happy Tea Day and Happy Halloween!

I love the art on your Shelly. Your Broaches are very beautiful, too. The Johnson Brothers is not so bad either. It DOES scream Thanksgiving and the art is AWESOME. Love the painted Japan cup. All are so special.

Hello Dear Martha...Hope, so much, you start to feel like your old self soon.

I will take Halloween decor down soon, too. Don't have too much for Thanksgiving but will begin for Christmas right afterward.

Your prayers were answered for those of us who live in Western Massachusetts. We had heavy winds and rain but no major losses, thanks be to God.

Have a good day, Martha. Susan

I am so very late, late, late! Tonight I am going to relax with a cuppa, and go through all of the lovely tea posts. Especially yours, Martha, because I only have time for a quick peek and linking.

Ooooh, your goodies look yummy!

I love these fall looking teacups. They are so beautiful. I can share your thoughts about being under stress. I too always love to decorate but this year has been very challenging and my heart is just not in it. I hope you do well with home schooling. It does take a lot of time and thought. We did it for all three of our children. Have a wonderful weekend.
