TEA CUP TUESDAY AND EVERYONE IS INVITED FOR A WORK DAY!

Hello Ladies!  Welcome to Tea Cup Tuesday No. 182!   Remember I told you last week, my air conditioner broke down during our heat wave last week?  Well, I did get it fixed within 48 hours.  That was great for this woman, because I can really lose it in the heat. God was good, someone came during a holiday. All is well again on the earth and at home!  One little problem however, there was damage to my living room ceiling and walls. So they have to be painted.  What is the big deal you ask?  Well take a look, this is a picture of just one of my cabinets in that room.  I do not have good light today, to show you a picture of the entire cabinet.  However, here is a little glance at shelf or two.  I have two large china cabinets in the living room alone.  There is an arch connecting the living room from the dining room, so really both rooms need to get painted.  I have two more china cabinets filled to the brim in that room as well.  Just thinking about it, makes me want "my Mommie!"  I am giving myself a few days for the heat wave to go away before I start the project from "hell."  Pray for me, I need it; more importantly, my family needs to survive me.

Oh well, have some fun tea cups to share with you today.  I am also going to share some recent finds for your viewing pleasure :)  This first cup is a Johnson Brothers, Friendly Village, The Ice Box.  It is a common tea cup used in the fall. I love cups that tell stories.  It is made in England.

Cup No. 2 is an orange colored cup from Brazil.  In my efforts to thin things out, I will give this cup to the first person to ask for it. Just email me.  It will be one less cup I will have to pack away while the workers paint.

The next two cups are both from Japan.  I just love the one with the bird on the handle.  They are both demitasse cups. You can see my cameo collection under the cup. All this has to be packed away to paint.  I am in so much trouble.  (Don't think about it, Martha.)

Of course, this week I found just a few new pieces, I did say just a few. See the ballerina in front of the Limoges plate, at the top of the post?  Lately I have been drawn to very small figurines. (Why, Martha? Why?)  They are so cute.  Look at the little orange one that matches the larger one. How could I say No?

Also found this great vintage napkin holder.  Don't you just love her?  I think she would look great with vintage hankies.  Did I ever tell you I collect vintage hankies?  They too, are also stored in the living room. Ouch!

Ok, this is the last of it, for this week.  These are two, vintage, crystal perfume bottles, signed by the designer. I have this thing for perfume bottles, I guess you know.  The more I listen to myself, the more I am sure I need prayer.  All these little goodies cost me only $10.  I only buy things when they are super cheap.  I hope you give me points for that?  I  just thought of a great plan! You can all come over and help me next week!  We can have a work day! Great plan don't you think?  I'll feed you lunch! :)  Think about it!

Here is a picture of my two grandchildren.  They always make me feel better.

Thank you for listening to me today. I needed your ear and a place to just confess my collecting situation. Have a great week.  Here is the link and also a few parties I am joining this week.  Blessings!  Martha

Well, my dear friend, yes Houston, we have a problem!

But you know what? It's ok. You will get through this - and you are right, God is Good!

I love that beautiful orange tea cup but even though I am the first to comment I wouldn't dream of asking for it - I need another tea cup like I need a hole in my head.

So I cannot help you there.

I will be saying a prayer for you. And I SO wish I lived closer, I would be there in a heartbeat to help you.

BIG HUGS!

Those grandkids are just adorable. Look at those rosy little cheeks- xo Diana

Hi Martha,
nice that your air condition was fixed soon. But now the ceiling. I can imagine the problem to move the whole cabinets with collection. Maybe you can leaave them on the place and cover them with foil for protection? Hope they will find a way for you. Your tea cups today are so pretty for the fall time. I love the colors and shapes. And the best are your cute grandchildren. Thank you for sharing with us the treasures of your life.
Hugs and greetings, Johanna

Oh, dear Martha, you do have a lot of packing to do! You'll get there though. I love the Friendly Village because of course I also have several pieces of that same pattern. Love seeing your little ones. Have a wonderful week and I hope you will add my Tea Time Tuesday to your tea party list.

Blessings,

Hi Martha,
I am so sorry to hear about your the damage to your ceiling. I understand totally because we had a flood at our house and I had everything packed away for two months. Your collection of teacups is absolutely fabulous. Yours are spectacular! I just love seeing those little kiddies. They do cheer everyone up and take our worries away! Thanks for hosting. Take care,
Karen

Dear Martha,
I love you just the way you are!

All your tea cups are very lovely. I would love to go shopping in your china cabinets! lol! You really do have a china and gift shop in your house! : )
But that is o.k. That is what brings you pleasure and you do it all for pennies. No worries. But I do see the dilemma of having to move it all so you can paint! Yikes! I wish you all the best. I hope you can find some willing helpers.
Hugs,
Terri

Well, bless your heart! The good thing is the air is fixed. Just put on some soothing music and get reaquainted with your treasures - and have a lovely cup of tea on the side! We had one of those kind of experiences - we were chaperones with our children at a summer Christian camp. Came home all happy and jovial to open the garage (under house) to find water running down from upstairs. Instantly Dearest ran up to the main floor, we could hear him yell, 'it's coming from upstairs!' The upstairs hall toilet had broken and had been overflowing for a few days - the ceiling collapsed on our computer damaging furniture, walls ceiling and more. It was quite an ordeal - even to the point that the insurance guy accused me of trying to get some things fixed that he claimed weren't part of the damage - we made it through that and God provided that our home was in great shape to sell - months later when Dearest decided to move here to start a church. God has a way of bringing rainbows to every situation. So delighted to join your party and do appreciate you hosting and sharing,
Kathy

Martha, I've missed the way you mix and match all of your lovely collections - the jewelry with the teacups, the linens with your lovely figurines....all of it so pretty. Oh, I would love your orange teacup, but I am sure I must be late in asking, but I'll email you just in case.

In the meantime, I need to browse through your shop and do some creative visualization and picture me purchasing some lovelies one of these days.

Sorry to hear you had some problems, but I can see that you've kept your humor, and that's a start in getting things back to normal. God is wonderful, and you will get through all of this with a rainbow at the end. Your grandchildren are delightfully sweet.

Blessings for a quick home renovation,

Marianne xo

Martha,
What a daunting job, but I would know. I'm collection addict myself. I would hate to be facing that task. I had the same cup and saucer with the little bird on the handle. It was my mother's. I share it with my sister, so she has it now. I love it.
The faces of those two grandchildren.........well, they would make me smile any day.

Oh my goodness Martha I’ve never seen so many beautiful tea cups in one house!!!
I can understand your dilemma at having to pack them all away.
If I lived close to you I would be over in a shot to give you a hand…. but sorry dear Martha I’m 12,000 miles away in New Zealand.
It would be such a joy to hold and see your beautiful collection up close.

I’ve only got a few teacups – all handed down from my mother who really loved good china.
I hope my post is OK, there is only one set of photos with cups, but it was all about tea party food too!

Thank you so much for hosting your lovely party – I’m honored to be part of it.
Hugs
Shane

Firstly, thank you so much for visiting my blog and adding yourself as a follower.

I can truly understand your situation of collecting things you love. I don't have the huge collection you have of tea cups, however, my mother was a collector of all things beautiful, and she passed away last year and I inherited everything. It has been an overwhelming time for me as I brought most of it to my little house and I simply don't have the room, nor do I have the heart to part with them.

I have it down to one room now full and all my cupboards overflowing, however I am gradually going through the items one by one and deciding which I will keep and which I will give away or sell.

I have s few lovely china cups and saucers I am definitely going to keep as they are so pretty and I cannot bare to part with them. I hope to have a new kitchen later this year and hopefully will have more storage to put these items, although I would love to have them out on display should I have the room.

Thank you for sharing a part of your life.

Lee :)

Hello my dear Martha....Oh, if ONLY you were not in California and I were not in Massachusetts, I would be so pleased and happy to help you.

What kind of damage did the ceiling and wall sustain? Water damage? Oh, that is sad.

It's been so hot there, I know, cuz I have a sister in Mission Viejo.

It's been lovely here but tomorrow it will go up to 90 degrees. Will have my fingers poised above the air conditioner as soon as my eyes open in the morning.

God bless you, dear Martha. You are funny, too. You always make me laugh. Love, Susan

Oh no Martha! Boy look at everything I missed while trying to survive thru this jet-lag. Poor girl. I had to pack everything away for the new floors and it wasn't a lot of fun at all. I hope you have help and people are careful with your precious things. I will definitely be sending lots of strength and calmness your way. Oh and hope. Loads of hope for everything in your life turning out happily. Thinking about you and caring about you very much. Hugs.
