LOVING LIMOGES!

Ladies,  welcome to Tea Cup Tuesday No. 229!  So glad you could join us.  I trust you all had a good 4th of July.  I am aware that for many of you, the weather has been awful.  Here in Los Angeles we have been HOT!  I am thankful that we have had no big fires directly around us.  We live in the foothills and are surrounded by mountains.   Our family went to visit the new police station my Son-in-law works at, on the 4th.   He is our policeman.  I sat in a holding cell, rode in his police car and visited every place you do not want to be in, at a police station. It was a little unnerving to realize that our Son-in-law works such a dangerous job.  It wasn't until I was in the police station that it really hit me. My daughter tells me I live in a safe bubble. Maybe I do, and I am so thankful for that safe feeling. I am also grateful for men like Kevin that are called to do that.

I have removed all my red, white & blue at home.  It is always a little sad, like Christmas, I love to decorate for this holiday.  Today I am sharing some pink tea cups starting with this demitasse Limoges.  The pattern name is "The Ardennes," Theodore Haviland, Limoges, Frances.  I only own 2 of these demitasse cups, however, I do own the entire dinnerware set in the pattern.  I am so lucky.  I put it on layaway about 20 years ago and I am so happy I did.  It would be out of my financial reach now.

The next cup is also a Theodore Haviland, Limoges. Name of pattern is unknown.  I have a small serve for 8 of this pattern. Sorry about the shadow.

Last but not least is this stunning Shelley, always a wonderful choice.

The picture at the top of the post is some of the lids on the Limoges dishes.  They were just to beautiful not to display them.

Please continue to pray for our dear Terri and her son.  She is still having health problems.  Here is this week's link.  Wish me luck.  Hugs, Martha

  1. Hi Martha,
Your limoges teacups are gorgeous! I also love the gold bow pin - so pretty with the gold on the teacup. The Shelley is very lovely too. I do admire police officers and firefighters and all of the men and women who put their lives at risk for us. What an exciting day you must have had cruising in a police car! Thank you for hosting Tea Time today. Please tell Terri that I miss her and my thoughts and prayers are with her. Have a wonderful week! Karen

  3. What a great day, and a great guy. Thank him for me! I know how you feel. All of these brave guys in the Armed Forces, Police Force, Fire Fighters, and medical teams risk their lives, so we can have safe, free lives. We are so blessed!

I am afraid your lovely tea cups took second billing this Tea Cup Tuesday, but they are still ever so lovely.

  6. Hello Martha! I haven't participated in Tea Cup Tuesday in such a long time, but I'm so glad I was pulled toward your blog today! I know how proud you are of your son-in-law! It certainly is a very dangerous job, and I commend him for becoming a police officer. Also, I love all the tea cup sets you showed! I don't know which is my favorite, but I think it just might be the first one! I'm going to join the "tea cup party" today, but with an oldie-but-goodie. You may not remember it, but I first posted it on July 5, 2010! Almost 4 years to the day! Have a wonderful week, Martha! Big hugs to you and your family.

  10. As always, beautiful teacups, Martha. Your collection is absolutely stunning. I see lucky little granddaughters being gifted with teacups on special occasions.

A huge thank you to your son-in-law for taking on the dangerous job of police officer. Policemen are one of my soapbox issues. Professional athletes get paid millions of dollars to play a stupid game, but policemen put their lives on the line daily, and they make peanuts. Something is wrong with that picture!

Have a great week. Hope you can manage to find a reprieve from the heat.

    Love,
    Patti

  11. Dear Martha....I agree that your son-in-law's job is terribly dangerous and I respect policemen for their sacrifices. He is a nice looking man, too.

I loved your blue shirt, too! You looked so pretty.

Great Fourth here. Hope yours was awesome, too. Susan

  18. That tea cup and saucer at the outset - gorgeous. Layaway was a great thing in its day. How lovely that you own the dinner set! And, of course, Shelley is always a winner. I'm missing a teatime post this week - so much to prepare for the writer's conference I'm going to the end of this month! But, taking a moment to browse all our other ladies - and thinking fondly about our Terri and her son. I do hope there is mending soon and all will be well. She is missed.
    Joy!
