TEA CUP TUESDAY NO. 44!

Hello My Very Favorite Tea Cup Ladies: Welcome to Tea Cup Tuesday No. 44. How was your week? My has been a mixed bag of feelings. I was so jazzed because I went to an Estate Sale that sold stunning Tea Cups for $4. Not just any tea cups, Shelly's and Royal Albert cups. I thought I died and went to tea cup heaven. I am going to show you one of the new $4 cups today. I was trying hard to be calm, but it was not easy. The good thing about this place, or bad, how ever you want to look at it, was the place smelled awful. A 98 year old lady lived there and no one ever visited. It was awful in there. She did save everything. It truly was like the TV show Hoarders. You just had to make your picks quickly and get out. So that saved me, from sinning because I could only get what I could hold in my hand. I knew I could never come back into the house after I left. Came home with my goodies and sterilized them quickly.

This first cup I am going to show you is one that I picked up at an estate sale for $4 today. It is a Johnson Bros., "The Friendly Village, The Ice House", Made in England. It is a beautiful gray color with the village in muted reds, greens, blues and yellows. I just fell in love with this cup, and you can't beat the price.

Cup No 2 is this beautiful black with red roses. The cup is made by EB Folby. It is one of my favorite cups. I think it is because of the white and black. Those colors are so elegant. I know I have shown you this pitcher before, I just love it and want to share it again. It is made by Royal Worcester China.

This next set is made by Castleton China. It is the tea cup and demitasse cup to match. They are both so elegant, in a cream and gold color.

Last but not least I want to show you the tea cup give away I am having. I hope you like it. The rules for the giveaway are on December 31, 2010 post. Here is Mr. Linky. You know what to do.

Don't forget to visit Terri. She truly always has some amazing tea cups. She never disappoints. The tea pot on the top of the post is a Spode, "Chelsey Wicker" is the name of the pattern. Thank you so much for being a part of Tea Cup Tuesday. If you would not mind I could use some prayer this week. I am doing brave things to take care of myself. Things that I do for others, but not for me. Just call me "Woman"! Love you, Martha

  5. Hello Martha,
how nice are your new acquisitions. All your cups are pretty. The first one is nice and "the friendly house" is just perfect for you. But I have a fond for the second one, also. It is a very beautiful one. I think, it was hard for this woman to sell her beloved things. That is the very nice with porcelain, one can sterilise it easly. Surely we will keep you in our prayers. Take care and have a nice time.
    Greetings, Johanna

  7. Lovely new cups for your collection Martha. How sad to think of that poor lady, but god that her cups have arrived at such a welcoming home. I love the Friendly Village pattern, I have not seen that before despite living in the UK. I will try and track some down.

  16. Good day, Martha,

The cups are wonderful...I like the friendly cup set. I wish I lived in a quaint place such as that, and the snow scene is delightfully inviting. I think it's very sad about the old woman. I'm sorry for her whatever the reason was that no one visited.

The black with roses is very stunning, and the cream with gold trim could surely be served to the Duchess of Tea~mania, don't you think?

Thank you for sharing your lovelies.

  19. Hello Martha! Oh you are making me a sinner! I am sooooo jealous! I can't believe Shelly's for 4 bucks! The cups you have shown are really special. I am totally over the moon about your Foley cup, black and white with roses too! I am swooning. O.k.....I am being too dramatic....over tea cups.....(grin)

I am afraid I did disappoint in my post today. To be truthful, I have the FLU, it is on it's way out, but I almost didn't post, and I really just put out whatever I could. I didn't have the energy to do a proper post. So, I apologize for that.

I am trilled for you that you got to go to that estate sale, good for you sweetie!
    Hugs,
    Terri

  21. Martha, those are just beautiful teacups. It's a lot of fun going to estate sales, but when I go, I get sort of sentimental thinking that once upon a time the items that are being sold were being used by someone that is no longer on planet earth. I get tearyeyed, still I go.:) Very nice.
