A NEW YEAR WITH CHANGES!

My favorite picture of Princess Maya!

My sister Melinda and her husband, Randy, watching the football game and Rose Parade!

Noah's daddy, Kevin, just playing on the floor!

New Year's Day has come and gone, but not the excitement of what the 2010 has to bring us. It is was wonderful starting the year with family. The pictures show what a hard day we had! My son, Kyle, was on his first adult vacation with the guys. Believe me I have been praying. He went snowboarding. As of today, except for a little cold he is in one piece and has been having a wonderful time. Praise God, he comes home tomorrow. I have missed so much. The only thing good about him being gone is, I have more money in my pocket! I am sure he will take care of that as soon as he comes home! Just thinking about that, puts a big smile on my face. Forever, they will be just our children, no matter how old they get.

I started to do some changing around my house. It is January and the house is decorated white with silver and gold. Changing things around reminds me that nothing ever stays the same. I am a lady that hates change and yet, it happens all the time around me. So I change the colors of my home's decorations, just to remind me that it is all going to be ok. I know that is weird, but that is how I am, it helps me cope. Besides, I get to look at all the different things I have, that I forgot all about because they were stored away in the basement. The pictures I took today are of my mantel, that is usually where I start.

I also want to remind you of my give away. Noah is very excited about picking a name again. Although, some of you have tried to bribe him, which, I must say has been known to work.

Here are the rules for the give away:

To celebrate my one year blog anniversary, I have planned this give away. It will end January 31, 2010. Since I am a book-a-holic, what would be better than another book? Rachel Ashwell is my favorite designer. This book, The Gift of Giving, I believe is her best! All you have to do is leave a comment, the more you leave the more chances you get. (I love getting to know you.) If you choose to follow, I will give you two extra points and last but not least, if you add my button to your blog, you get three chances. It is just that easy. Just let me know what you have done and Noah and I will do the rest!

Have a great day! Blessings, Martha

  2. Martha,
Thank you for your kind comment on my post of today. My desire is to be a blessing to all those who read and follow along.
I love your change in decor. The crystal items are just beautiful. Your little princess indeed qualifies for the title. What a little gem she is. Noah seems to be a happy child and what a wonderful smile he has! Our families are truly God's best blessing to us.
I pray His continued blessings for you and your family in the year ahead.

    In Grace,
    Marie

  4. I think change is what keeps us alive and going, some peace and quiet is nice, but it shouldn't last too long ;)

  5. Change is a part of our lives, even when the changes are not what we want! We could lock ourselves in a room and not change anything at all and still everything would change with or without our help, so I think that your way of handling it is wonderful! Just have to try to go with the flow and try to have faith in the bigger meaning! Have a lovely week Martha my friend and I hope all your changes this year are good ones! I think you may have inspired my next post! Suzie. xxx

  12. Hi Martha,
I have that book and I agree It's a great one! I worked for Rachel Ashwell a few years ago at her Newport Beach store. It was wonderful, but I never took any money home from my paycheck, too many lovely things to buy!
    Have a happy New Year!
    Sincerely,
    Melinda

  14. Beautiful Martha!
    Thank you again for sharing.
I don't always love change, sometimes it feels good, and sometimes it is challenging.
I try to remember that change brings me a new experience and clarity.
    Hugs,
    Terri

  15. I have been one of your followers for a little while now, through facebook. I love vintage finds and decorating. I love making gifts for the family. Whenever I make something I think is cute, I make a lot for the rest of my large family. Thank you for the chance to win the book! It sounds great and one I would really get alot out of.
